The next module is the Shorebased training courses.
Navigation Course – Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January (9.30am-5pm each day)
This course follows the Irish Sailing Coastal Navigation for Small Boats Syllabus dealing with a variety of chartwork, tidal and navigation topics. The course runs on Saturday 10th January and Sunday 11th January from 9.30am-5pm each day. The course is fully indoor, so no need for any sailing gear. The cost for this is €120.00. This can be booked online here.
First Aid Course
This course covers the requirements for Watersports Instructors. The course is fully indoor, so no need for any sailing gear. Rather than have just one date, we have a selection of Sunday’s for you to choose from:
- Course 1: Sunday 18th January, 9.30am-4pm approx
- Course 2: Sunday 1st February, 9.30am-4pm approx
- Course 3: Sunday 15th February, 9.30am-4pm approx
- Course 4: Sunday 25th February, 9.30am-4pm approx
- Course 5: Sunday 22nd March, 9.30am-4pm approx

Some candidates may already hold a first aid certificate, please can you double check that the course covers: Hypothermia, Cold Shock, CPR and AED use. If the course has covered all these modules (in addition to the usual breaks, strains etc) then it would be accepted for the RYA Dinghy Instructor Course. If you’re in any doubt please email glyn@inss.ie.
Fees
The cost of the Coastal Navigation Course is €120.00. The first aid course costs €90 – please note the discount code must be entered in the card to avail of this rate.
If your child already holds a First Aid Certificate, that meets the above requirements there is no need to book a First Aid course.
