Classroom Course

Running this September this course is designed for those with a background theory level to at least Day Skipper. The course will work through the Yachtmaster Theory syllabus over a series of Thursday evenings from September.

Yachtmaster Theory – Classroom Course 1

Thursdays from 6.30-10pm

• September – 3^rd, 10^th, 17^th, 24^th
• October – 1^st, 8^th, 15^th, 22^nd, 29^th
• November – 5^th, 12^th
• Exam on Saturday 14^th November from 9.30am-4pm

What we’ll cover:

• Secondary Port Calculations
• Course Shaping and Plotting
• Use of Almanacs in conjunction with Admiralty Publications
• Advanced use of Chartplotters and other Electronic Position Fixing Equipment
• The interpretation of weather forecasts including use of forecasting with a Barometer
• Passage Planning, Routing and Plotting

We’ll provide all course notes and materials. All you’ll need is a notebook.

This is a great option for those who need to be flexible on their time commitments. The online course has a 6 month duration and there is online instructor support throughout. The Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore Theory Course is delivered by Urban Truant, a RYA Recognised Training Centre specialising in online training. Upon booking, a website link and password will be sent to you, please allow one business day to receive this.

You will be tutored /supported by an experienced RYA instructor. Hard copies of training charts and course notes are also sent to you by post. The cost of the programme is €400.
