What course or knowledge do I need to get an ICC?
Irish Sailing, on behalf of the Irish Government are the issuing authority in Ireland for ICCs. An Irish Sailing National Powerboat Certificate is sufficient to meet the issuing requirements for ICCs for vessels 10m in length and under. Please note, you must be resident in Ireland for Irish Sailing to be permitted to issue an ICC.
Living outside of Ireland?
If you live in the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the issuing authority. They require you to complete the RYA Powerboat Handling (Level 2) course, which we offer. If you are not resident in Ireland or the UK, you will need to contact your country’s issuing authority for details on what qualifications are needed.
Have experience but no course certificate?
You have two options, either attend a two day National Powerboat Certificate course, or you can be directly assessed for the qualification.
National Powerboat Certificate Direct Assessment
This takes about 2-3 hours and costs €169. There is a practical and written theory examination that must be completed. Please see link HERE for further details, or contact us on 01 2844195 or email sailing@inss.ie.
