Inhouse Dinghy Instructor – Pre-Invitation Sailing Assessment
Overview
Prospective RYA Dinghy Instructor candidates will undertake a sailing skills assessment. This is to ensure that they meet the general sailing ability requirements to participate. The day will commence at 9.30am and will conclude with an individual feedback session.
Prospective candidates have received access to this booking window with a view that we believe you should consider attending. The day will run in a series of single and double handed dinghies. It will be led by a team of our Senior Instructors who will look at the following:
- Rigging
- Launching
- Sailing - use of 5 essentials while sailing generally and on a triangular course
- Sailing Manoeuvres on Level 3 & 4 syllabus - e.g. Coming Alongside, Picking Up mooring
- Capsize recovery
- Landing and de-rigging
Sailors need not be worried about a formal assessment - it will be a day with coaching and advise. Each candidate will be de-briefed individually.
What to bring
Candidates should attend with equipment they need to go sailing. We can provide wetsuits and buoyancy aids if required.
